So, it’s been awhile….like awhile.
So, it’s been awhile….like awhile.
So, I follow Melissa and her blog, Blog Clarity on Bloglovin and she has issued a challenge for October. She has a theme each day for the mobile app Periscope.
Now, I’m not a video person (hence the reason I don’t have a YouTube channel) but I thought this may be an easy way to stick my toe in the video world. The app is connected to Twitter so you can use the same handle as you do there. I love the idea of this challenge and am going to try it out. Also, I’m REALLY nervous because I’m older than this apps target market, but this seems an easy way to step outside my comfort zone.
Make sure you follow the link above to the Challenge post and find me on Periscope!
Are you on Periscope? Are you going to try out Melissa’s challenge?
Let me know your thoughts!
Hello my friends!
When I first started reviewing products I did a Monthly Favorites post, but that quickly started to feel like a burden of having to purchase, try and desperately find something I could call my favorite for that month, so I dropped the series. I am not going to start up with monthly favorites, but I do want to start doing favorite posts approximately every 3-4 months.
With that said, what I have for you today is random items I have been OBSESSED with since my last favorite post. This post will only contain non beauty items, but future favorites posts will be a mix of everything. Are you guys ready to get started? Okay, here we go!
First up is The Hillywood Show.
If you have a fandom, chances are they have done an EXCELLENT parody based on it. Supernatural, Doctor Who, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries and a ton more! I also love their behind the scenes videos they release after each parody. If you want to be truly sucked into a YouTube wormhole search for Supernatural/Doctor Who/etc Reaction Videos. Fans always film their first watch of the parodies because Hillywood pick the best reaction for a prize. Check these out:
(Spoilers for Supernatural through mid Season 10 and for all of Tennant’s time as The Doctor)
Each Parody from Hilly and Hannah is amazing and I could easily list them all as favorites, but then this post would be super long!
Up next is the Fox Comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Now, I have seen gifs on Tumblr of this show and they always seemed amusing, but how did I not know that this show is insanely laugh out loud funny! Trent and I have been getting caught up on Hulu and it is amazing. If you were a fan of Scrubs and haven’t started this show go to Hulu right now and get busy!
Finally, here are the books that I have been loving:
Searching For Sunday by Rachel Held Evans. She is the writer for one of my favorite faith based blogs. Every time I have read something on her blog or in one of her two other books, I feel myself saying “Yes, me too. Finally!!” Highly recommend!
Live From New York: The Complete Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live This is a LONG book, but I think they interviewed everyone still alive who had anything to do with SNL. Nobody pulls any punches and it’s fascinating to read what each person in one of the many feuds/firings etc felt about their situation. If you are an SNL fan and love to get behind the scenes info, check this out!
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson (aka The Bloggess) Jenny’s first memoir (Let’s Pretend This Never Happened) made me cry from laughing the first time I read it and I still laugh a lot the times I have reread it. I’m not sure why I thought reading Furiously Happy in the parent pickup line at Liam’s school would be a good idea because I was laughing so hard, I was gasping loudly for air and had to put the book down, so no one thought I was crazy. If you are an introvert, have anxiety issues or have dealt with mental illness/depression you need to read her books. It’s nice to read about someone with some of the same anxieties I have and recognize bits of myself.
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I actually just finished this book and plan to start the KonMari Method next week. The way Marie has her categories laid out is so simple and makes so much sense! Now, there are some cultural differences, she advises thanking each item for their service or lesson they taught you when you get rid of it and I’m not likely to do that, but I love the idea of touching each item in the category you are working on to see if they “spark joy” for you. I plan on doing a post reviewing the book and the KonMari Method after I have finished working through everything, or I may possibly do several update posts as I make progress, I’m not sure yet.
Echo Prophecy by Lindsey Fairleigh Okay, so was anyone else obsessed with Ancient Egypt and archeology as a kid? I sure was! This is the first novel in a trilogy that deals with modern day archeologists, Immortal Egyptians, time travel and some romance. There is a short novella that has been released that comes after Echo Prophecy and the second novel in the trilogy has also been released (I’m about to start it), the final book hasn’t been released yet, but I’m hoping soon. Echo Prophecy was a very fast/easy read and I can’t wait to finish this trilogy. If you are looking for something fun to read, try this series!
Okay guys, that is all of my non beauty favorites, what did you think? See anything you like? Have any recommendations for things I should add to my long list of “stuff to try”?
Thanks so much for reading!

I saw this video from Jaclyn Hill pop up on my YouTube feed and since I have not done a tag post in forever, decided to give it a shot!
Favorite Drink I’m not really a coffee drinker, but I love tea! I ordered some of this year’s fall collection from David’s Tea and my favorites so far have to be Pumpkin Chai and Peanut Butter Cup. If you are into tea at all, do yourself a favor and go check out David’s Tea. They offer all their loose leaf teas in sachet form, so you have a choice between loose leaf and bagged.
Favorite Blush I usually have three go to “fall” blushes that I use in rotation. It Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Flush in Radiant in Rose, theBalm’s Cabana Boy and Tarte’s Exposed. I love them all, so I decided to put them all in this post. Apologies for cruddy cell phone pics on a throw pillow, I seriously just threw this post together instead of sticking to my planned out schedule!
Favorite Clothing Item If you have been reading for awhile you know I live in Florida. We don’t have real seasons, but this time of year it occasionally gets down to around 70 degrees in the morning, so I love wearing cardigans over a tank top or short sleeve shirt so that after lunch when it’s back up to 80, I can just slip off the cardigan and not melt. Light layers are a Floridians best friend! I just snagged this cardigan at an outlet because it is super soft and chunky but is still thin enough that it won’t make me feel overheated. Just a reminder that I am not a style/fashion blog, so if you think my cardigan is hideous that’s cool, you wear what works for you!
Favorite Fall TV Show Supernatural! Season 11 starts in a few weeks. If for some strange reason you have never watched Supernatural, you need to go to Netflix right now and start watching Seasons 1-9.
Favorite Thanksgiving Food Mashed Potatoes and Gravy and the Sour Cream Muffins my hubby makes. YUMMY!
Favorite Halloween Costume Liam as Mickey Mouse last year! It is hard for us to find a costume that works with Liam’s ASD Sensory Issues, but last year Liam wore his costume the whole time we were doing Trunk or Treat without trying to rip it off/have a meltdown, Mickey Mouse worked great, plus he was really really cute!
Well guys, that’s about it for the Fall Favorites Tag! I’m not going to tag anyone specific because I’d love to see everyone do it! If you do this tab, please leave me a link so I can check out your answers!!
Thanks for reading!
I love Chobani Greek Yogurt. I use it for protein in smoothies (the pineapple and blood orange flavors work great in green smoothies) and the plain greek yogurt is a great ranch dressing alternative, so when Chobani challenged me to participate in the #BreakYouMake campaign I said absolutely!!
The #BreakYouMake Campaign is running throughout the month of June and it is a project that honors someone in your life who deserves to take a break. I knew immediately who I wanted to honor and that is this guy:
This handsome fella is my husband, Trent. Trent went back to school and became an electrician, which I could never have done because electrician = a ton of math. I hate math 🙂
He works overtime whenever it is available so that I can stay home with our son, Liam. He works hard every single day (without complaining!!) to make sure our family is taken care of and still makes time to hang out and have fun with our family. He is awesome and he 100% deserves a break!
Who in your life deserves a break?
In the last few months I decided to give up soda in an effort to clean up my diet. I am not a big coffee drinker so I decided to replace my morning Coke with tea. I tried several brands before stumbling onto a review for David’s Tea. If you are following me on Instagram then you already know about my love of David’s Tea. Everything I have tried has been excellent and I am hooked!
I ordered The Christmas Morning Collection (this is still available and it’s 40% off!) and The Happy Collection (which no longer seems to be available, but you can still purchase the individual teas). Every time you place an order, David’s Tea will send you three free samples!
Now on to the individual teas!
Bubbie’s Baklava: this is a low caffeine Oolong tea that contains walnuts, almonds, pistachios, pineapple, papaya, cinnamon, apple and ginger. It tastes like dessert!
Santa’s Secret is a medium caffeine black tea with candy cane sprinkles. This is great first thing in the morning!
Cocomint Cream is a fruit infusion with no caffeine. It contains coconut, apples, sweet blackberry leaves, peppermint and spearing. This is a great tea to relax with at the end of the day, you can also drink this as an iced tea!
The Happy Collection came with three bags of tea and a ten pack of tea filters.
The tea filters are pretty generously sized and easy to use. Please ignore the random Kiefer hair in the pic below.
Forever Nuts is a fruit infusion with no caffeine. This tea contains apples, almonds, cinnamon and beetroot. This is also a tea you can drink iced and due to the beetroot the tea turns into a bright pink color!
Birthday Cake is a Rooibos tea that is caffeine free. This tea contains milk and soy and SPRINKLES! When you steep this tea it actually smells like birthday cake. Love it!
Happy Kombucha is a low caffeine Oolong tea that contains mango, pineapple, safflower petals and of course Kombucha powder. I had never heard of Kombucha so I wasn’t sure I would care for this tea, but just like everything else I have tried from David’s it was yummy!
Well friends, that wraps up this tea haul and review. I have already placed another order with David’s Tea and ordered a little something extra for a giveaway I am working on for you guys!
Have you tried anything from David’s Tea? Do you have a favorite tea I should try?
Thanks for reading!
